My TikTok apology video got worse feedback than the original drama

Got dragged into a mess last March when a clip of me at a local comic shop in Tulsa went viral. I said something dumb about a creator's art style without context and people dug it up. I made a 40 second apology video thinking that would fix it. The comments said my apology felt fake and rehearsed because I used a script my friend wrote. So I deleted it and posted a messy 2 minute take where I talked over my own thoughts and admitted I was just jealous of their success. That one actually calmed things down. Weird how being less polished worked better. Has anyone else had an apology make things worse before it got better?
