Chose junkyard calipers over cheap remans for my Accord
My 2002 Accord needed rear calipers bad, they were sticking. Had $80 total to work with. New remans were $65 each, but I found a pair at Pull-A-Part for $25 out of a 2005 with low miles. Cleaned them up, threw new seals in for another $12. They're working perfect a month later. Anyone else gamble on junkyard brake parts?

Is brake work really that serious when they'd probably last fine either way?

Wait, @the_kai you really think brakes are optional? That's honestly terrifying to read. My stomach just dropped a little. Brakes are literally the only thing between you and a tree or a car or a kid running out into the street. They're not like an oil change where you can push it a few thousand miles and probably be fine. If your brakes fail at 60 mph, there's no "probably fine" about it. I've seen what happens when pads wear down to the metal and it's not a sound you forget or a repair bill you want. So yeah, brake work is that serious, please don't gamble with it.
