I put $180 junkyard seats in my 2004 Civic instead of saving for racing buckets
I have been slowly fixing up my 2004 Civic coupe and the stock seats were shot, foam crumbling, fabric torn, the usual. I had two choices, save up $600 for a pair of used racing buckets from a guy on Facebook Marketplace, or grab a set of leather seats out of a 2007 Accord at the Pick Your Part in Rancho Cordova for $180. I went with the Accord seats because racing buckets need brackets, and aftermarket brackets for my car run about $200 each, so the real cost would have been over a grand. It took me a whole Saturday to pull the donor seats and another afternoon to swap the rails over. The Accord seats bolted into the factory holes with just a little grinding on the front bracket. The only real issue was the driver seat sits about an inch higher, so I had to tilt the wheel down a bit. Six months later they are still holding up great and my back does not hurt on long drives anymore. Has anyone else gone the OEM swap route instead of aftermarket seats, and did you run into the height problem too?
