Switching to a 4-day workweek took me 8 months of fighting HR
Everyone online swears the 4-day schedule is a simple ask, but between two bosses, a payroll system in Dallas that couldn't handle it, and three rewritten proposals, it was October before my September request got approved, so has anyone else found that the real blocker is always middle management, not the actual work?

My dentist's office has been trying to add online booking for 14 months now. Same story. The front desk loves the idea, the dentist loves the idea, but the regional manager keeps asking for more reports and the software company keeps saying they need a different approval form. Meanwhile I can book a flight to Japan in ten seconds flat. It's like every company has this invisible layer of people whose whole job is just to say "not yet" to anything that changes how things run. You end up doing all this extra work just to get back to the same place you started, except now you're tired and it's October.
