Vent: A manager in Dallas told me to stop taking notes in meetings
Honestly, I was at a team meeting in Dallas about six months ago and my manager pulled me aside after. He said my constant note-taking made me look unprepared and distracted. Ngl, I used to write down everything but now I just jot down three key points max. Has anyone else had a boss give them weird feedback about how they work?

Oh man, that's wild. My old boss told me my notes looked like I was plotting a crime novel, not tracking action items. I guess to some people, writing stuff down means you weren't listening in the first place. Now I just stare intently and hope I remember the three things I'm allowed to write down later.

My friend got fired for "excessive note taking" once.

That's some of the dumbest feedback I've ever heard. It feels like they just want to control how you look in the room, not if the work gets done right. I would have kept taking my notes but maybe made them look more like a simple list. Managers who care about stuff like that are usually worried about their own image.
