The "just follow your passion" advice nearly wrecked my career change
Everyone kept telling me to quit landscaping and chase my "dream job" in graphic design. I spent 8 months and about $2,000 on courses because I liked doodling in my notebook. Turns out I hate sitting at a desk for 10 hours a day and my lower back was killing me. Has anyone else found out the hard way that your hobby is not the same as a career?

Man I felt this one. I spent close to three years trying to turn my love of woodworking into a full time thing. Built a whole workshop, bought all the tools, even quit my steady warehouse job. Turns out making the same cutting board nine times a week for customers who want it cheaper than Lowes just drains the joy right out of it. My hands hurt constantly and I ended up hating the smell of sawdust. Its a rough lesson when you realize your hobby worked because it was your escape, not your main gig. Hope you find something that feels better on your body and your brain.

Three years grinding at cutting boards until your hands give out? Sounds like you learned a normal lesson most people figure out in six months.
