Took a part-time gig at a plant nursery while looking for office work
I was out of a marketing job for about four months and getting pretty low on cash. A friend said the local garden center needed weekend help, so I took it just to cover rent. I figured it would be boring, just moving bags of soil. Instead, I ended up learning all about native plants and helping customers plan their gardens. The owner, Linda, let me run a small social media page for the shop, which I did for free. It got way more attention than any campaign I did at my old firm. Now I'm looking at jobs in horticulture or outdoor education instead of going back to an office. Has anyone else had a random side job completely change their career path?

My temp data entry job made me forget how to talk to real people.

Yeah that isolation hits hard. Did they have you working alone in some back office, or was it just the kind of place where nobody really talks? I did a factory job like that once and my voice felt rusty by Friday lol.
