Wasted $250 on a career coaching program that just Googled stuff

Signed up for a 6 week career switch coaching thing thinking they'd have insider connections. All they did was tell me to update my LinkedIn and sent me job boards I could have found for free. Has anyone else found a coaching service that actually helped them network with people in the field?

I mean, honestly that sounds about right for most of those programs. I'm not defending them charging $250 for surface level stuff, but a lot of people go into these things expecting personal connections and forget that networking is something you gotta do yourself. Like, they can't just hand you a rolodex of people who'll take your calls, you know?

Used to think those programs were a shortcut worth paying for, but this post pretty much changed my mind. Sounds like you got basic advice wrapped in a sales pitch with nothing real behind it. A friend of mine did better just asking people on LinkedIn for 15 minute chats.
