Finally figured out why my miter joints were always a hair off

My buddy in Boise asked to see my saw setup and pointed out my fence wasn't square to the blade, which I'd never checked. Anyone else have a 'duh' moment with a basic tool setup?

Oh man, that hits close to home. Spent a whole weekend building a picture frame that just would not close up right, blaming my shaky hands the whole time. Turns out the speed square I was using to set my miter gauge was the one that was out of whack. Felt like a real genius that day. It's always the simple stuff that gets you.
