That $180 router bit set I bought in March was a complete waste

I figured a cheap set from a big box store would get me through a few cabinet jobs, but the bits dulled after maybe 30 feet of plywood. The arbor on the one bit actually wobbled enough that it chattered on the edge and ruined a piece of oak trim. I ended up buying a single Freud bit for $65 and it cut like butter for two months. Anybody else find that mixing brands is actually the smarter way to go?

Thirty feet of plywood and they're already dull? That's practically nothing, I've burned through more than that on a single shelf unit. The wobbling arbor part is what really gets me though, a bit that can't hold its center is basically a fire hazard in my shop. Mixing brands has been my move for years now, I'll pay up for the bits that actually touch the wood and go cheap on the ones that just spin in the collet.
