Unpopular opinion: I see a lot of guys skipping the layout step on simple cuts and it always bites them later.

Yeah, I feel that. Webb.blake is right about how that little bit of extra time upfront saves so much hassle. I've learned the hard way that skipping steps just means I'll be redoing the whole thing later, lol.

Honestly this is everywhere now. People skip reading the recipe and burn dinner, they don't measure twice before hanging a shelf. That "it's simple, I got this" attitude just sets you up to waste time fixing a dumb mistake. The five minutes you save on the front end always turns into an hour of rework later.
