Guy at the supply house told me to stop using a power stretcher for stairs, and now my seams don't pop
I always used a power stretcher on stairs because I thought it was faster. Then this old timer at Hatch's Carpet Supply in Denver said I was overstretching and causing the seams to separate after a few months. He showed me to use a knee kicker with shorter, more controlled pops. Three jobs later and zero callbacks, so I guess he was right. Anyone else ditch their power stretcher for stairs and get better results?

Buddy of mine tried the power stretcher on stairs for years too. He swore by it until his wife stepped on a seam wrong and it split open like a peeled banana. Now he's a knee kicker convert.

I used a power stretcher on stairs for years and thought I was hot stuff. Then my first seam popped in a rental house and the tenant called me at 6am on a Saturday. He said the carpet looked like a taco. Now I use a knee kicker too and it's way slower but my seams actually stay put. Guess I was just being lazy and fast.
