Spent $350 on a power stretcher and it tore my first carpet job

Bought a new power stretcher from Home Depot for $350, figured it'd make life easier, but the adjustment knob snapped on the second room. Has anyone else had their gear fail right out of the box like that?

Oh man, that's rough! Diana's got a point though, paying $350 for a power stretcher that breaks on the second room is basically paying for a lesson in what not to buy. I had a similar thing happen with a used power stretcher from a pawn shop, the tension bar just gave out halfway through a living room. It's like these companies know you're gonna need it for one big job so they make them flimsy on purpose. You'd think for that kind of money it'd be built like a tank, but nope, you get plastic parts that snap if you look at them wrong. Hope you can at least get your money back or swap it out, and maybe go for a brand like Roberts or something that's actually meant to last more than a few days.

Well at least you didn't pay for a lesson too.
