The $45 laser thermometer that saved my Sunday meet prep

I used to guess tire temps by touch before each Cars and Coffee run, and last month I got burned literally at the Queen Creek lot. Picked up a cheap infrared unit on a whim, and within one morning I found my rears were running 20 degrees hotter after a hard loop. Anyone else use one to dial in pressure before the cruise, or am I overthinking the whole thing?

Twenty degrees hotter is a huge difference, I'd never have guessed my tires were that uneven.
