Just found out my 2007 Mini Cooper has a coolant pipe made of plastic that sits right above the exhaust manifold

Man, that's rough. A plastic coolant pipe right on top of the exhaust manifold is just asking for trouble, especially on an older car like that. The heat alone will make that thing brittle over time, and then one day it just lets go. Been there with friends who had Minis, and it's always a pain because you can't even see it cracking until it's too late. Feels like the engineers didn't think that one through (or they just wanted you to visit the shop more often).

Oh man, tell me about it. I had a customer with a Mini last year, same exact headache. That pipe cracks and you're left scratching your head wondering where all the coolant went. Engineers must have been having a laugh when they designed that one, right?
