My 2015 Focus shifted hard at 61k miles, and I traced it to a clutch the factory set up to fail
I drive a 2015 Ford Focus and around 61,000 miles the DPS6 transmission started shuddering so bad I thought a tire was coming apart, and the shop in Dayton quoted me $1,900 for a clutch job on a car with under 70k on it. What changed was the seal design, the dry clutch packs soaked up oil and dust and wore out way faster than a normal clutch, and Ford ate it in class actions while owners like me paid anyway. So my question is, does a part that dies this early on purpose count as a bad design or just a sneaky plan, and who else got stuck holding that bill?
