That 2012 Cruze almost stranded me in a tunnel last Tuesday
I was driving through the Fort Pitt Tunnel in Pittsburgh last week when my 2012 Chevy Cruze just lost all coolant pressure. No warning light, no puddle on the ground before I left. Turns out the plastic thermostat housing cracked right at the seam, a known flaw on these 1.4L engines. I limped it to a shop two miles away and the guy said he sees three of these a month. Has anyone else had their coolant system just give up without any signs first?

Rolled up to that tunnel with my coolant looking fine and my wallet feeling fat, three minutes later I'm living that "why is my temperature gauge pegged" nightmare. Plastic thermostat housings are basically an engineered failure point, Chevy knew exactly what they were doing. I had the exact same crack on my old Cruze at 68k miles, no warning, no nothing, just a surprise puddle under the car. At least yours gave you a dramatic tunnel story instead of dying in your driveway like mine did.
