Sounds less like a steal and more like a long term relationship with a money pit. A $400 Civic with a blown head gasket is basically your uncle buying you a part time job you don't get paid for. Eight months in and you're still doing the math on whether the tow bill alone made it a bad deal. Honestly the fact that it still runs at all might be the real miracle here.
