Can we talk about the 8-hour nightmare of a completely blocked flue in a 1920s house?
That job in the old Craftsman on Maple Street took me a full day because the previous owner had lined the chimney with broken brick and mortar, thinking it was a fix, and I had to chip it all out by hand.

Actually makes you wonder what else is living in the walls. I mean, if there's a squirrel nest, there's probably a whole food stash in there too. That could mean nuts, seeds, all kinds of stuff rotting away. Might even attract other bugs or something. It's not just about the nest itself, it's about the mess they leave behind.
