That homeowner who watched me work and said 'you missed a spot'
I was on a job last Tuesday off Maple Street in Arlington, and this guy stood there watching me brush for 20 minutes before pointing at a tiny streak and saying 'you missed a spot.' I had already done three passes on that flue. Anyone else deal with homeowners who think they know your job better than you?

Doesn't that just make you want to hand them the brush and walk away for a bit?

Three years ago on a house near Elm Park, I had a guy follow me around with a level while I was hanging drywall. He kept telling me to check if the ceiling was straight, which is ridiculous because drywall isn't naturally flat, you have to finesse it. I finally turned around and said "sir, if you want PERFECTLY level, you're gonna need to call a magician not a drywaller." I definitely missed a spot after that because I was so flustered. Honestly though, I've learned to just nod and smile, then go back and fix the imaginary problem while muttering under my breath. It's like they think watching a YouTube video makes them a contractor.
