Coworker saw my fridge full of 11 hot sauces and said it looks like I'm scared of plain food
She wasn't wrong. There's a bottle of sriracha from 2022 in there that I keep moving to the front just so I feel like I'm using it. Do you all have a rule for when to actually toss a sauce, or am I the only one hoarding condiments I'll never finish?
A 2022 sriracha? That stuff has a shelf life of maybe a year once opened, so you're basically keeping a science project at this point. I get the whole "I'll use it eventually" thing because I do the same with a bottle of gochujang that's been in my door for way too long. My rule now is simple, if I can't remember the last time I touched it and it's been sitting more than 6 months, it goes in the trash. The smell test works too, if it smells weird or the color looks off, don't risk it. Holding onto sauces you never use just means you're scared to admit you wasted money on them. Toss the old ones and buy fresh stuff you'll actually enjoy.
