Neighbor called my rain garden setup 'ugly' so I changed it up

Some lady down the street told me my rain garden looked like 'a muddy pit full of weeds' and honestly she wasn't wrong. I had it planted wrong for the soil type in our area near Portland. Swapped out the swamp milkweed for some blue flag iris and added a layer of river rock, now it actually drains right and doesn't look like trash. Anyone else had to redo a garden project after someone pointed out the obvious?

That iris patch costs more than her whole flower garden.
