Read that the average EV battery only costs $7k to replace now

I saw a report from a battery recycling plant in Georgia that said replacement packs for a Chevy Bolt are down to $7,000 installed. Five years ago that was closer to $15,000. That's a big drop for anyone worried about buying used electric. Makes me wonder if the whole 'battery replacement is a dealbreaker' argument is fading. Has anyone here actually had to swap a battery on an older EV, and what did it run you?

Yeah that 'battery replacement is a dealbreaker' thing is fading fast. I mean it feels like one of those arguments people clung to but pretty soon it'll be like worrying about engine swaps on a gas car, just a regular repair.

Oh totally, it's wild how fast people move the goalpost on this stuff lol. It's like when everyone was freaking out about buying food with preservatives or whatever, and now most folks don't even think twice about it. Same with how people used to swear they'd never use a self-checkout or bank app, and now they're surprised if a store doesn't have one. We just get used to the new normal and forget we ever argued about it. Battery swaps are gonna be that thing where in five years people are like "wait, you actually worried about that?
