The community compost bin finally clicked for me in Portland

Last month I started dropping food scraps at the shared bin near my apartment on Division Street. It felt pointless at first, but after 6 weeks I noticed my trash bags went from 2 a week down to 1. Has anyone else seen a drop in waste when they started composting nearby?

I used to think the bin was just for hippies, but seeing my trash go from 2 bags to 1 in six weeks made me a believer. That drop is real, and it feels way better than I expected.
