Found a crazy stat about coolant concentrate in an old shop manual

I was cleaning out our shop's back room and found a binder from the 90s with mixing guides. One page said using just 1% more coolant concentrate than needed can cut tool life by up to 15% over a year. I always just eyeballed it before. Started measuring with a refractometer last week and my inserts are already lasting longer. How many of you guys actually check your mix ratio every time?
