Hot take: A loose collet screw cost me 6 hours of my life

I was running a part on a Haas VF-2 last Tuesday. Tool kept chattering like crazy. Checked feeds, speeds, even the holder. Nothing worked. Took me 6 hours to realize the collet nut was barely hand tight. Facepalmed so hard. Anyone else chase a ghost problem like that?

Dude, that's rough... I've been there too, spent a whole afternoon chasing a weird vibration on a lathe only to find out the chuck was loose. It's such a dumb way to lose hours.

That part where you said "dumb way to lose hours" really hits home... I had a buddy who was tearing his hair out over a Haas mill last year. He'd checked everything on his end, swapped inserts, even called support. Turns out his co-worker @christopher952 had borrowed his rougher and didn't tighten the collet fully before putting it back. He found out when the tool pulled out halfway through a cut and wrecked a $400 casting... it was a mess.
