Rant: I ran my spindle at the wrong RPM for almost a year before noticing

I was cutting aluminum on my Haas Mini Mill, and every part had this weird chatter on the finish pass. Turns out I had been using the same speed as my steel jobs (around 2500 rpm) because I never bothered to look up the right chip load for aluminum. How did you guys finally figure out proper feeds and speeds for your machine?

Ten years in and I still check a speed chart before every job.
