Spent $400 on a 'complete' coding bootcamp video set that was just a mess

Back when I was starting, I bought this huge DVD set (this was a while ago, okay) that promised to teach you everything from HTML to Python. It cost me about four hundred bucks, which felt like a lot then. The videos were all over the place, jumping from topic to topic with no real projects, and half the code examples were for old versions of the software. I ended up just using free stuff online that was way better organized. Has anyone else gotten burned by buying learning material that turned out to be useless?

What was the final straw that made you give up on those DVDs and just go find free stuff online instead? I feel like there's always that one moment where you realize you're wasting your time, like when a video uses code that just doesn't work anymore.

Wait, you think I gave up on DVDs? Nah, I still buy them sometimes. The final straw for me was actually when a streaming service removed my favorite show for no reason. That's when I started buying the DVDs again for stuff I really care about. Online stuff can just vanish, but the disc is always there on my shelf. So now I do both, stream for casual watching and buy physical for my favorites.
