Hit 500 pour overs on my home setup last weekend

I started counting how many pour overs I made at home back in January just out of curiosity. Last Sunday I hit number 500 and it surprised me because I didn't think I stuck with anything that long. That is about 5 pour overs a week for almost two years straight. I use a standard Hario V60 and a cheap gooseneck kettle from Amazon. What really hit me is how much water I went through and the fact I still can't get a perfect brew every time. Some days the coffee tastes amazing and other days it is flat no matter what I do with my grind size. Has anyone else tracked their brew count and noticed a pattern in consistency after a certain number?

That's an impressive streak for sure, 500 is no joke. But here's what I'm really curious about - did you ever switch up your water source or temperature in that time? Because I swear half the "bad days" come down to that stuff, not just grind size. Also, how many bags of beans did that work out to, roughly? I bet the total cost is way less than buying all those cups out.

Huh, I don't know man. It's just coffee, right? I think you're overthinking it a bit. I've had the same tap water and same old Mr. Coffee for like three years and my morning cup tastes pretty much the same every day. Maybe if you're getting THAT worked up over water temperature you should switch to tea or something.
