Just ran the numbers on my home espresso habit and yikes...
I added up what I spent on beans and gear over the last 6 months and it came to $1,240. That's like $200 a month for something I could get at the shop down the street for $4 a cup. I found this breakdown on a coffee forum called Home-Barista where someone tracked their costs for a full year. Anyone else ever calculate what their setup actually costs them?

Actually I used to think people were crazy for tracking this stuff. "Just enjoy the coffee" was my motto. But I hit $1,100 last year on my Gaggia and grinder upgrade and it changed my mind. Now I can't unsee the numbers.
