Unpopular opinion: The best thing I did after dropping out was get a city permit.
I was stuck trying to start a small handyman business in Tampa, but no one would hire me without proof I was legit. I spent $150 and a week getting a city business license and a contractor registration, and my first three jobs came from just showing that paperwork. What was the first real credential you got that made a difference?

Getting my general liability insurance was that moment for me. It cost about $500 for the year, but I could finally put "insured" on my truck door and my website. That one line item got me in the door with property managers who wouldn't even return a call before.

That stamp of approval is a game changer for sure.
