Had to pick between a $200 Omnibus or 10 single issues last Friday

I went with the Omnibus because it looked like a better deal per page, but now I'm stuck lugging this 5-pound brick around the house. Has anyone else regretted going for the collected edition over floppies for a story you weren't sure about?

Bought that big Hellboy omnibus last year. Regretted it after 50 pages. Thing weighs more than my cat. Hard to read in bed without dropping it on my face. Ended up just buying the floppies for the story arcs I actually liked. Gave the brick to my buddy.

Ha, I was totally the opposite for years until I got one of those thick collections and yeah, @zarapalmer you're right. I used to think bigger was better for saving shelf space, but after almost breaking my nose twice I get it. Sticking to the smaller trades or singles is way more practical for actually reading the thing.
