Still mad I ignored the shop teacher who told me not to store my books in my garage

Back in 2017, Mr. Patterson said the humidity would kill my collection, and sure enough half my long boxes are warped now. Anyone else learn that lesson the hard way?

Mr. Patterson sounds like he knew his stuff. I read an article from the Library of Congress that said garages are basically the worst place for paper because of the humidity swings. My buddy lost a whole run of Amazing Spider-Man to mildew because he thought a dehumidifier would fix it. The thing never ran enough to actually dry the air out. Now I keep my stuff in a spare closet with a temperature gauge. Learn from our mistakes, man.

Feel you on that spare closet setup. I had a similar wake up call when I found a musty smell on some old Silver Age issues I'd stored in my basement. Temperature gauge is a smart move, I just check mine with a cheap hygrometer and it's been a game changer for keeping things stable.
