That $60 variant cover I bought last month had a printing defect I missed

I picked up a foil variant of Ultimate Spider-Man #1 for $60 at my local shop thinking it was a steal. Got home and realized the entire cover is misaligned by almost a quarter inch, cutting off the logo. Has anyone else gotten burned on those pricier variants without checking them under a bright light first?

Wait did you buy it sealed or was it out on the wall where you could flip through it? Because I've been burned twice now on those foil variants where the glare is so bad you can't see the actual print quality until you get home under normal lights. The shop I go to lets you open sealed books at the counter to check for defects but most places act like you're crazy for asking. Did you try taking it back or are you just eating the loss? I'm curious because I've got a stack of misprinted exclusives I'm too embarrassed to even try to return now.

Yo, here's something I haven't seen anyone mention yet: sometimes those misprints or glare issues on foil covers are Actually intended as a kind of "imperfect" collectible run by the publisher. I've seen a couple indie comics where they deliberately printed off-register foil variants as a limited "error art" batch and they're worth MORE than the clean versions, it's wild. You might wanna check if yours is one of those before you stress about the return.
