The whole 'Amazing Spider-Man run is underrated' thing is getting out of hand

I keep seeing people online say that the Dan Slott or even the Zeb Wells run on Amazing Spider-Man was secretly great or underrated. But I've been reading ASM since issue #600 back in 2009 (bought it at a con in Portland) and I honestly don't get it. The characterization for Peter is all over the place in those books, like he's a totally different person from issue to issue. Is there a middle ground here, or are we just hyping up bad writing to be contrarian?

Honestly that's just the contrarian thing people do with everything now, not just comics.
