Warning: the guy at my booth at Baltimore Comic Con called me out for not reading my own floppies
So last August I set up at Baltimore Comic Con with about 40 long boxes and a few slabs, thinking I was a pretty serious collector. Around 2pm on Saturday this older dude in a faded Hellboy shirt starts flipping through my Batman run, and he pulls out issue 6 and asks me who drew the backup story. I had no clue. He just nods and says "that is why half these boxes still have price stickers on them." He was right. I had been buying comics for close to 8 years and shelving them same day, never once reading past the first few pages. That weekend I made $460 and spent most of it at other booths anyway, which honestly made his point worse. Since then I pull every floppy out before it hits a box, read it, bag it, THEN file it. My pulls dropped from like 12 titles a month to 5 because I finally noticed which ones I was not even enjoying. Does anyone else buy way more than they read, or is that just a me thing?
