Had an old salt tell me my lift bag technique was going to get me killed, and he was right about the angle of attack.

After he showed me how he hooks his bag at a 45 instead of straight on, I stopped getting twisted up in my own lines on deep wrecks off New Jersey - has anyone else had to unlearn a bad habit from a more experienced diver on a job?

Funny how the old heads always have that one trick that changes everything. Same thing happened to me learning to drive stick, a buddy showed me how to rev match and it was like a whole new world.

That "one trick" thing is so true. For me it was learning to feather the clutch on my first dirt bike, an old friend showed me how to slip it just enough on a hill and suddenly I wasn't stalling out all the time. Made me wonder what other little secrets I've been missing.
