Just wasted $300 on a 'waterproof' dive light from a random online brand that flooded at 30 feet

What kind of "waterproof" rating did it even claim to have? A lot of those cheap lights just say splash proof, which is basically useless for diving. You really need a proper depth rating, like IPX8 or an actual meters/feet number, from a brand that tests their stuff.

Oh man, you're totally right. I once bought a "water resistant" flashlight for a camping trip that died in a light drizzle. The box just had a picture of a rain cloud, no real rating at all. Felt like a total sucker. Now I check for that IPX8 or a depth number, because "splash proof" might as well mean "don't even think about it.
