Back in 2008, I used to carry a binder full of driver CDs for every motherboard brand.

Now I just keep a 32GB flash drive with a universal driver pack (which saves me about 15 minutes per build). Anyone else have a weird old tech habit they finally ditched?

Honestly, I still keep that binder. A universal driver pack sounds good until you get a weird conflict or a stripped down version. I'd rather have the exact file from the manufacturer's site, even if it takes a few extra minutes to download fresh. That old binder method just felt more reliable, you know? What happens if your flash drive gets corrupted?

Wait, you still have a physical binder? That's wild. I haven't seen one of those in a decade.

My 2007 binder had a whole SECTION for just Sound Blaster cards. I finally threw it out last month and my wife found it in the trash and asked if it was a family photo album. The shame was REAL. I'm all in on the flash drive now, but I still get that little panic when Windows doesn't auto-find the network driver.
