Bought a $180 Fluke tester 3 years ago, finally saved my butt last month
Was chasing a ghost voltage on a client's network closet in Sacramento that my cheap meter kept showing as live, and the Fluke showed it was just induction from a nearby romex run. What tool did you overpay for that eventually paid for itself?
That ghost voltage stuff is no joke, because a cheap meter showing live when it's not will have you tearing apart a panel for an hour for nothing. Same deal with my $70 Klein clamp meter, it looked dumb at the time but it found a neutral that was barely making contact and my old meter never caught it. Tools that read true save you way more than they cost in the time you don't waste chasing stuff that isn't real.
