An old foreman's trowel trick flipped my whole opinion on power trowels
I used to swear by my power trowel for everything, thought hand finishing was a waste of time on big pours. Then this guy, Larry from a job in Phoenix, watched me work for 10 minutes and said "you're making lines the machine will never fix." He showed me how he runs a margin trowel along the edges first, before the power trowel even touches it, and the finish came out flat as glass. That one conversation convinced me that power trowels are a helper, not a replacement, and now I budget an extra 30 minutes per slab for hand work. Has anyone else got a trick from an older finisher that made you ditch a habit you thought was the right way?
