Hit my 1,000th concrete pour last Tuesday and popped the trowel right out of my hand

Celebrated a decade of finishing by finally breaking into 4 digits, then watched my favorite margin trowel bounce off a fresh slab into a mud puddle. Anybody else have a stupid moment like that on a milestone job?

Man, that's just how it goes sometimes... its like the more you do something, the more the universe finds ways to keep you grounded. I've noticed this pattern everywhere, not just in concrete work. You hit a big milestone and then something stupid happens right after, like a reminder that you're still just a person fumbling around out here. It's almost like the little screw-ups are part of the deal when you're trying to level up, keeps you from getting too cocky. That trowel hitting the mud might've been a reset button more than a bad omen.

I wonder if that trowel hitting the mud puddle was a kind of sign, you know? Like the universe reminding us that no matter how many pours you've done, the little things can still trip you up. I had a buddy who dropped his favorite float into a wet gutter on his 500th job and he swears it was a lesson to stay humble. Maybe you just had to let go of that tool to make room for the next 1,000.
