Old timer told me to wet cure for 10 days straight

Ignored him on a driveway job in Austin last summer, thought 5 days would be fine. Now I'm explaining to a homeowner why their slab is cracking at the expansion joints a year later.

10 days is overkill. I live in Texas and never wet cure past 3 days. 5 days is plenty for Austin weather. The cracking you're seeing isn't from curing, it's from your saw cuts being too late or too shallow. That's the real problem. Concrete sets fast in the heat, you gotta cut within 4-6 hours no matter what. Blaming the cure is a convenient excuse but the math don't add up. Next time cut deeper and chop sooner.

Hear you out, but I think 3 days is way too short for hot weather. Most cracking I see comes from skipping the long cure, not just cut timing.
