That expensive Italian trowel I made fun of my coworker for buying

I spent two years razzing this old timer for dropping $80 on a Marshalltown trowel. He kept saying it held a better edge and balanced different. Last month I grabbed one off his truck by accident and used it for a whole garage floor pour. Now I get it, that thing glides through cream without catching at all. Anybody else got a tool they thought was a gimmick till they tried it?

Exactly this. Used to swear by cheap trowels until I borrowed a buddy's worn-in Goldblatt, now I can't go back (broke down and ordered one that same night).

Wow that's wild, did the old timer ever say anything to you after you broke down and bought one?
