Dusted off my 360 after 8 years, got schooled by a 12 year old game

My old Xbox 360 was sitting in a closet since 2016, so I hooked it up last weekend to replay Red Dead Redemption. The load times were brutal and the resolution looked fuzzy, but I ended up having way more fun with it than any of my modern PC games this month. Am I just chasing nostalgia, or do older consoles actually force better game design because the hardware limits kept devs honest?
