The week my team stopped writing like robots and started sounding human
Our internal newsletters used to read like they were written by a committee of lawyers. Then about 6 months ago our new comms director came in and said 'nobody talks like this.' She made us rewrite one issue using contractions and shorter sentences. First time in 3 years I got actual replies from employees. Has anyone else seen that shift happen in their company?

Started rewriting our FAQ page the same way @masontorres and got five replies in an hour.

Man, is writing an internal newsletter really that deep? I get that nobody wants to read some stiff corporate memo, but getting actual replies from employees doesn't mean you cracked some code. It probably just means people were bored that day. What kind of stuff were you putting in there before, legalese about performance metrics?
