Tried sending our layoff memo at 4:59pm on a Friday and the CEO replied all within 90 seconds
So our team decided to drop the reorg memo right before the weekend thinking it would get buried, classic move I know. Within 90 seconds the CEO hit reply all and asked why he was reading about it in an email instead of hearing it from us live, and my manager turned the color of a tomato. Turns out two execs forwarded it to three clients before we even hit send, which is a whole other mess. I learned that in corporate comms the timing trick always backfires because somebody with a phone is always awake and reading. Has anyone else had a quiet Friday drop turn into a full weekend fire, and how did you handle the fallout Monday morning?
