My esthetician in Tulsa talked me out of microneedling and sold me a $65 serum instead
I went in last month for a consult on microneedling for my acne scars. She looked at my skin under a light and said my barrier was wrecked from over exfoliating. She told me to drop everything and use a basic ceramide cream for 6 weeks first. I did it and my redness went down a lot, way more than I expected. Saved me $400 on the package. I'm going back in April but now I'm wondering if I even need the needles. Has anyone else had a provider talk them out of a procedure like that?
So did she actually fix the scarring or just the redness? A barrier repair is great and all but it doesn't rebuild collagen, so if the scars are still there in April you might still want the needles.
I read a derm's blog post saying barrier repair can make scars look better just from less inflammation, but it won't do much for deeper pitted ones. Might be worth seeing how your skin looks in April and deciding then lol.
