PSA: Went back and forth for 3 weeks on lip filler vs a lip flip, picked the flip, and now I'm second guessing it
I'm 34 and my lips have always been on the thin side, so 6 weeks ago I finally booked a consult at a med spa here in Columbus. The injector laid out two paths: 0.5ml of filler at $650, or a lip flip with 4 units of Botox at $60. Filler meant actual volume and it lasts 6 to 12 months, but she warned me about lumps, migration, and the bruising that could keep me hiding for a week. The flip just relaxes that muscle above the lip so it curls out more, way cheaper and basically no downtime, but it fades in like 8 weeks and does nothing if your lips are truly thin. I picked the flip because I wanted to test the waters first and I hate the idea of walking around puffy for a work trip. Honestly the first 5 days I looked a little odd smiling, that classic chipmunk thing, but around day 10 I started liking it. Now it's mostly gone and I'm staring at old photos trying to figure out if the $650 was the smarter buy all along. For people who have done either one, did the flip actually stick for you or was it just a preview of the filler?
