Found that mixing developer 10 with semi permanent actually makes my foils pop

I started doing this last month when my usual demi color kept fading out on a client with super resistant gray around the temples. Mixing a small splash of 10 volume developer into the semi permanent before applying gave me way better coverage without the harsh line of permanent color. Has anyone else tried this trick or am I just making extra work for myself on processing time?
